White Water Was A Wash...

Ridin' in the car
At Chrissy's house
Me, Hazel, Mel, & Chrissy

Today (June 16th), Melanie, Hazel, and I headed out for a much anticipated White Water trip. When we arrived (after an hour and a half drive), we noticed that everyone was LEAVING by the droves. So, we pulled up to the hut where all the employees were standing and they didn't say a word about being closed. So, I asked what was going on. Finally, they told us that the park had closed about an hour earlier due to a "sewage backup". Hummm...that sounds like a personal problem to me!! :-) Anywho, we never even got our swimsuits wet...what a shame! We were really worried that we were not going to get our money back b/c they were running out of money so they were just giving out tickets for another day. However, we did get a full refund because we had purchased our tickets online with one credit card and Hazel said that she was returning to England and would not be able to redeem her ticket. So, thanks to Hazel being from England we all got reimbursed! Yep, we played that card for all it was worth.

While waiting in line to get our money back, we witnessed one group of folks who were from Ohio and who were completely outraged at the fact that they could not get a full refund. That were giving the White Water staff "down the country" and that is putting it very politely. It was quite entertaining to say the least. Long story short, when we were finally leaving the park I noticed a news van pulling out up ahead and we all started to laughing b/c you would know something like this is going to make the headlines. Once we got up to the red light I noticed that the news van had pulled over into an office complex parking lot. As we got closer we just busted out laughing b/c it was none other than the family that had been in front of us in line who were from Ohio and who were blessing out the White Water staff. We kept driving through a couple more red lights and all the while Hazel kept saying, "turn around, turn around, I want to talk to the news people, I want to be on the news". Finally, Mel did turn around and we pulled into the parking lot where the news van had just finished interviewing the other family. On of the news guys came up to our car and said "get out, get out, we want to hear your story". Mel said, "my friend from England wants to talk to you". We were laughing so hard as Hazel got out of the car first. We followed. They actually interviewed all of us, but apparently they edited my opinion out, because when it aired on the news that night, only Hazel and Melanie were shown being interviewed (I was just standing in the background). Ha Ha! I think I just repeated what Melanie had said and so they just cut out my clip. Oh well, it was fun and I got to make my appearance on T.V. and I got my 10 seconds of fame!

After our T.V. appearence, we decided to go and visit Chrissy at her house. She lives really close to White Water and she just happened to be working from home that day. So, it was nice to visit with her and to see her beautiful house. Next, we headed to the Mall of Georgia to do some shopping and eating. It was an eventful day and will always be remembered.
