Brooks & I
The "snowscape"
which protected them from Denver & Dally :-)
Please feel at liberty to skip the following blurb...it is for me and my awful memory and I never want to forget it b/c it was so wonderful!
It all started on Friday afternoon around 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon. I was teaching my last class of the day (hallelujah) when one of my students said, "It's snowing". I looked out and there was a steady downfall of huge, beautiful snowflakes. The snowflakes continued into the night until around 11:00 p.m or so and left us close to 4 1/2 inches of snow. When I got home from work, I put on my cold weather gear and headed outside to take some pictures of this wonder that, if we are lucky, get to see about once a year. Then, Brooks and I decided to head out for dinner before the roads became too bad and the barbecue restaurant we wanted to eat at was out of everything except for the barbecue. So, we ended up at this relaxed, but elegant little restaurant called Bob's in downtown Royston. When we eat there, I usually get the wild Alaskan salmon, but I quickly spotted something that I just had to try...shrimp and grits (very delectable, by the way). After a pretty stressful week at work, it was so very relaxing to just sit with my husband and enjoy our perfectly prepared meal while watching the snow fall outside. We stopped and rented 3 movies on our home and I only made it half way through the first one! Lol
When I woke up on Saturday morning I looked outside to find the most beautiful day that I've seen in a very long time. There was so much snow and the sun was casting rays on it that just made me want to roll in it to see if it was as fluffy as it looked. I snagged Brooks to take some pics of Dally and I since this is her first snow. She was so difficult to handle because all she wanted to do was play in the snow. After awhile, Brooks got some cute ones and then was off to go help Kyle work on the fence at the land. I do not know what motivates one to go and put up a fence when you have 4 1/2 inches of snow on the ground and it is like 30 degrees outside but hey, I just rolled with it. So, Dally, Denver and I played in the snow for 3 1/2 hours and had a ball every second of it. Finally, my left hand started to feel numb and I looked down and it looked sort of blue. I realized that I had not been wearing my gloves b/c dog hair sticks to them and I hadn't even realized my hands were cold b/c I was having so much fun. I had to run scaulding hot water over my hand for about 5 minutes before the swelling started to go down. I do not know if this was the beginning stage of frostbite, but I know I will wear gloves next time. Later that afternoon the snow and ice on the roads was beginning to melt away so I decided to do a little shopping with mom, which is always an adventure. I headed home to enjoy the snow some more and to have dinner and movie time with my valentine (Brooks, if you are reading this...that would be you...hahaha).
Then, on Sunday, Brooks took me to the two new sectors of land that he is renting to keep his cows. We walked all over both properties and took Dally with us to one of them so she could practice walking on a leash. She is getting quite good at it, too! After that, we headed home to get ready for dinner. Brooks had made reservations at the Bonefish Grill, our new found favorite restaurant by the way, and we made it there by 4:15 for an earlier dinner date. Man, was it GOOD! Then we headed home to enjoy a relaxing night of MOVIES!!
Monday was President's Day and I was out of school. I started the day off with a trip to the gym followed by a deep tissue massage at the Foundary Park Inn & Spa (courtesy of Brooks Dobbs). I did some shopping downtown before heading home for a nap.
Yes, it was a "sweet" weekend, indeed. Now, back to work and reality before I really do get spoiled! Oh well!
