Brooks and I
Denver, Dally, and me
Ok so, I know most of you have heard me say this like a million times, but I haven't seen snow like this since I was about eight years old! So, needless to say, I was just tickled when it began to snow last Sunday (March 1st). After eating a late breakfast at my parents house, Brooks and myself had just left to go home at about 12:30 when it began to snow. My mom called me and said, "is it snowing at your house?" I said, "no, not yet". Then, all of the sudden at about 3:30 it began to snow really hard. The most beautiful (and big) snowflakes were falling. I decided to not waste any time because, after all, who knows when it will ever snow like this in our area again. I got dressed in a bunch of layers and headed outside to let the sweetest dogs in the world explore the "Winter Wonderland" for the first time. By the way, Brooks was taking a nap at this particular time because the T.V. was out. After about thirty minutes of playing with the dogs (Denver and Dallas-or Dally as I often call her) I realized that Brooks would really enjoy this (there was already about an inch or so of snow on the ground) and so I went and woke him up. To my surprise, he was not upset. So, the four of us just had a ball playing in the snow. Brooks and I decided to make a snowman but it took forever considering the fact that Denver and Dallas kept trying to eat the snowman's eyes, nose, and mouth (they were made out of Ritz Crackers)! Ha! This was so very cute! Then, when we got ready to add the arms (sticks), Denver could not help himself!! He loves to chew sticks (what dog doesn't...right). So, needless to say, making a snow man was not easy, but at least we had good quality snow to do it.
After a solid 2 1/2 hours playing in the snow, we decided we should probably go inside because we were freezing! When we got inside, we discoverd that we did not have power, so we played dominoes for about an 1 1/2. It took four candles to provide enough light to play...and this was a lot of fun! Well, for me it was anyway...I won by about 70 points! Sorry, honey! What can I say...I dominate in dominoes!! Ha Ha. We are lucky that we have a gas stove and a gas heater. We did not get cold or hungry...thank goodness for that.
Also, I tried my hand at homemade snow ice cream, but it did not turn out all that great. Ugh! I didn't make it until Monday night and the snow was too "icy" by that time. Making it on Sunday when it was still fluffy would have probably been a lot better. Since snow ice cream is my absolute favorite, I was very upset!! Oh well, there is always a next time...right?
